Il est l\u2019un de 145 territoires du pays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">C\u2019est une zone administrative, \u00e9conomique, touristique et culturelle importante de cette province, situ\u00e9e \u00e0 environ 150 km \u00e0 l\u2019ouest de Kinshasa, la capitale du pays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>\u2022   Chef-lieu : Ville de Mbanza-Ngungu\n\u2022   Superficie : Environ 8 460 km\u00b2\n\u2022   Population : Plus de 300 000 habitants (estimation)\n\u2022   Langues parl\u00e9es : Kikongo (langue nationale), Lingala, Fran\u00e7ais. D\u2019autres langues sont \u00e9galement utilis\u00e9es notamment le kindibu, le kisingombe et le kinzungi. <\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sur le plan politico-administratif, le territoire de Mbanza-Ngungu a sept (7) secteurs y compris la Cit\u00e9 de Mbanza-Ngungu. Les 7 secteurs sont : Boko, Gombe-Sud, Gombe-Matadi, Kivulu, Ntimansi, Kwilu-Ngongo, Lunzadi et Mbanza-Ngungu Cit\u00e9. Sa superficie est de 8&nbsp;460&nbsp;km2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En 2016, la population du territoire \u00e9tait estim\u00e9e \u00e0 651&nbsp;092&nbsp;habitants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">G\u00e9ographie et climat<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le territoire de Mbanza-Ngungu est caract\u00e9ris\u00e9 par :<br>\u2022 Des plateaux et collines verdoyantes<br>\u2022 Un climat tropical humide avec deux saisons : la saison des pluies (septembre \u00e0 mai) et la saison s\u00e8che (juin \u00e0 ao\u00fbt) tr\u00e8s froide.<br>\u2022 Une v\u00e9g\u00e9tation de savane bois\u00e9e et de for\u00eats galeries<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Il est travers\u00e9 par plusieurs rivi\u00e8res et b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie d\u2019un sol fertile, favorable \u00e0 l\u2019agriculture, surtout aux cultures particuli\u00e8res telles que la pomme de terre, la fraise, la vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de choux, la carotte, l\u2019ail, la patate douce, l\u2019orange, la mandarine et le citron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Infrastructures et transport<br>\u2022 Route nationale n\u00b01 (RN1) : relie Kinshasa \u00e0 Matadi en passant par Mbanza-Ngungu<br>\u2022 Chemin de fer Matadi-Kinshasa : la ville de Mbanza-Ngungu poss\u00e8de une gare ferroviaire importante<br>\u2022 Pr\u00e9sence militaire : les camps militaires Colonel Ebeya et EFATBL situ\u00e9s non loin de la Route Nationale n\u20221.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00c9conomie<br>L\u2019\u00e9conomie du territoire repose principalement sur :<br>\u2022 L\u2019agriculture : manioc, ma\u00efs, arachide, banane plantain, etc.<br>\u2022 L\u2019\u00e9levage et la p\u00eache<br>\u2022 Le commerce local<br>\u2022 L\u2019\u00e9ducation : pr\u00e9sence de plusieurs \u00e9coles et de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Kongo (UK), campus de Mbanza-Ngungu<br>\u2022 Le tourisme : notamment les Grottes de Thysville (sites naturels souterrains impressionnants)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sur le plan \u00e9conomique, le territoire compte 3 communes rurales, \u00e0 savoir :<br>\u2022\u2060 \u2060Kwilu-Ngongo, (7 conseillers municipaux)<br>\u2022\u2060 \u2060Lukala, (7 conseillers municipaux)<br>\u2022\u2060 \u2060Mbanza-Ngungu, (7 conseillers municipaux)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Histoire et culture<br>\u2022 Mbanza-Ngungu \u00e9tait autrefois connue sous le nom de Thysville \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque coloniale<br>\u2022 Elle a une histoire coloniale et militaire importante<br>\u2022 La r\u00e9gion est fortement marqu\u00e9e par la culture Kongo et poss\u00e8de un riche patrimoine oral et traditionnel<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Points d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat<br>\u2022 Grottes de Mbanza-Ngungu (Thysville) : curiosit\u00e9 g\u00e9ologique<br>\u2022 Lac Nzuzi : un lac artificiel pris\u00e9 pour le tourisme et les activit\u00e9s nautiques<br>\u2022 Universit\u00e9 Kongo (UK) : une des plus importantes universit\u00e9s de la r\u00e9gion<br>\u2022 Centre ferroviaire historique : t\u00e9moin du d\u00e9veloppement colonial<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chef-lieu<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mbanza-Ngungu qui est administrativement consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme un chef-lieu (localit\u00e9) compte pr\u00e8s de 100&nbsp;000 habitants, et est la troisi\u00e8me ville de la province du Kongo Central.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Il sied de rappeler qu\u2019elle est anciennement connue sous le nom de Sona Songo avant 1904, et ensuite Thysville (d&#8217;apr\u00e8s le colon belge Albert Thys).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En juin 2013, la localit\u00e9 se voit conf\u00e9rer le statut de ville, constitu\u00e9e de deux communes&nbsp;: Ngungu et Noki.
